Why Integrations matter

Most AI products fail when they have to answer questions about systems outside the model. A support agent needs ticket status. A sales copilot needs CRM fields. A workflow assistant needs shipping events, account limits, or weather data. None of that should live permanently inside the model prompt, and most of it changes too often to be treated as memory.

Integrations solve that gap. They give Mnexium a structured way to ingest live external data, map it into named outputs, cache it safely, and inject it into prompt runtime where it is actually useful.

What an Integration actually is

An Integration is an inbound connector. It reads data from an external system using pull requests, webhook delivery, or both, then maps values from that payload into stable output keys like weather_temp,customer_tier, ornext_invoice_date.

Those output keys become reusable building blocks across your Mnexium runtime. You can bind them into prompt templates, read them from cache, or refresh them live when the moment calls for current data.

Pull, webhook, or both

Integrations support three operating modes because external systems behave differently:

  • Pull when Mnexium should fetch data on demand from your external endpoint.
  • Webhook when the external system should push updates into Mnexium as events happen.
  • Both when you want webhook-driven freshness plus pull-based recovery or manual sync.

That gives teams a clean model for blending event-driven and request-driven data without building custom middleware for every source.

Scope makes live data useful

External data is not always global. Some values are shared across a project. Others are tied to one subject or one active chat. Integrations can be scoped at the project, subject, or chat level so the cache matches the runtime shape of the product.

That means you can keep one shared weather feed at project scope, bind customer-account state at subject scope, and keep a workflow-specific data feed isolated to one chat when needed.

What users can accomplish with Integrations

This feature is important because it changes Mnexium from a memory layer into a real context orchestration layer.

Prompt templates become much more powerful

One of the biggest outcomes of Integrations is prompt-template binding. Instead of hardcoding volatile values into prompts, you define variables that resolve from named integration outputs at runtime.

That makes prompts reusable. It also separates prompt design from data-fetching logic, which is exactly what teams need once they move beyond prototypes.

Cache is part of the feature, not an afterthought

External systems are slow, rate-limited, and occasionally down. That is why Integrations include scoped caching with configurable TTL instead of assuming every prompt should hit a live endpoint.

In practice, that gives you a better tradeoff between freshness, latency, and reliability. You can run a sync to refresh cache, allow live fetch only when appropriate, and keep the assistant responsive without losing operational data.

Security and operational control

Integrations are designed to be production infrastructure, not just demo plumbing. Endpoint URLs are validated, webhook ingestion supports signature verification, secrets are encrypted, and webhook receipts can be deduplicated.

You also get explicit test, sync, update, and delete operations, which means teams can manage connector lifecycle without rebuilding the same control surface internally.

Observability matters here too

When prompt variables are resolved from integrations, Mnexium can expose which integration IDs were used, whether values came from cache or live fetch, and what failed. That matters because context orchestration only becomes trustworthy when teams can inspect what was actually injected.

What this means for the platform

Memory alone helps an assistant remember the user. Integrations help it know the world around the user. Together, those two layers produce agents that are both personalized and situationally aware.
